Mark your calendars! The annual East Park Strawberry Festival returns to the mansion on June 4.
The Philadelphia Orchard Project will be picking the year’s first strawberries and thinning the strawberry beds; participants can take home a strawberry plant of their own to grow at home! POP will also be sharing delicious strawberry lemonade, strawberry desserts, and horticultural education.
The Philly Goat Project will also be back for this year’s festival. The goats will start the day at the Mander Recreation Center, then stroll over to the mansion to join in the festivities. Visitors of all ages can play, take photos, and read stories with our caprine friends.
The Philly Beekeepers Guild will be at the festival with information on beekeeping and honey to sell! Beekeeper Suzanne Matlock will introduce visitors to the beehive here at Historic Strawberry Mansion and talk about the role bees play in the mansion’s gardens.
And of course, as always: Historic Strawberry Mansion will be open during the festival for guided tours. The tour fee is waived for festival attendees. Don’t miss this chance to learn about the mansion’s fascinating history and see a one-of-a-kind collection of art, furniture, and dolls all free of charge.
